Raphael, nicknamed Raph, is a superhero and one of the four main characters of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics and all related media. In most iterations, he's usually depicted as the second oldest/mid-middle-child of the turtle brothers, often at odds with his older brother, Leonardo.

He is usually depicted wearing a red eye mask; in this regard, he is the only turtle to retain this color since the original incarnation of the characters, as the remaining turtles received different colors at a later time. Raphael wields twin sai as his primary weapon. He is commonly portrayed in media as speaking with a Brooklyn accent. Raphael is known for his temperamental and cynical personality, being short-tempered, aggressive, sullen, maddened, sarcastic, and rebellious. The origin of Raphael's anger is not always fully explored, but in some incarnations appears to stem partly from the realization that they are the only creatures of their kind and ultimately alone, while also bothered by the injustice the helpless and innocent suffer.

Raphael has a frequent rivalry with his only older brother Leonardo because the latter is seen as the group's leader. He is the second eldest of the turtles and serves as the team's enforcer. These two concepts has been altered in one of the most recent versions of the franchise, with Raph being the oldest and opposing Leonardo due to his irresponsible attitude, not taking the role as leader seriously. Like all of the brothers, he is named after a Renaissance artist; in this case, he is named after the 16th-century Italian painter Raphael. In 2011, Raphael placed 23rd on IGN's Top 100 Comic Book Heroes, a list that did not feature any of his brothers. He is the only Teenage Turtle brother whose name does not end in the letter "O", even though the artist he got his name from is "Raffaello".

Hyper Combos[]

Secret Ninja Attack: Attacks the opponent with a mat. If an opponent is caught in the mat, Raphael will send them up into the air and strike the opponent repeatedly in midair with his sai, before slamming them down with a final hit.
Whirling Fortress: Withdraws into his shell and spins around rapidly, striking multiple times. It starts up on frame 6 and is capable of moving forward or backward while doing so, which makes it an extremely effective out of shield option, launching opponents vertically and easily putting them into disadvantage. In the air, it propels Raphael diagonally upwards, travelling impressive distance vertically and horizontally; the move can cover a greater distance via button mashing near the end of the move.
Shell Shock: Leonardo starts the Super Move by jumping over the opponent and slashing them with his Ninjakens. Michelangelo then skates past his opponent on his skateboard and smacks the opponent with his nunchaku before throwing his skateboard up into the air. Raphael follows it up by kicking the skateboard into the opponent's face before throwing his sai's into the opponent's torso. Donatello finishes it off by performing an overhead strike with his Bo Staff, sending the opponent into the air. The Turtles end the Super Move by smashing their shells onto the opponent at the same time shouting "Shell Shocked!" together.

Super Brawl[]

Raphael appears as a playable character, along with his other brothers, in Super Brawl 3. His special attack involves Raph rapidly stabbing into his opponent and is a close-range attack.

Raph also has Fan characters. The boy's name is Amaro and the girl's name is Ruby. Both of them wear red and green clothes similar to Raph's main color. When his bar is fully charged he can use them. When called they will let a barrage of daggers rain down on the stage.
