Marceline Abadeer (full title: Marceline the Vampire Queen) is one of the main characters in Adventure Time and the main protagonist of the miniseries Stakes.
Marceline is a fun-loving and playful 1,000-year-old vampire queen. Unlike a traditional vampire, Marceline does not need to drink blood to survive; rather, she consumes the color red, or other similar tints. Marceline is also an avid musician who plays an electric bass guitar, which she crafted from her family's heirloom battle-axe. As of "Come Along With Me", Marceline and Princess Bubblegum have resumed their romantic relationship and is currently Bonnibel’s girlfriend again.
Cartoon Network Crossover Chaos![]
Marceline appears as a playable character in Cartoon Network Crossover Chaos! She was the first character of Adventure Time to be announced playable, although Finn and Jake already appeared in Ultimate Nickelodeon Brawl Stars X. She wears her costume from "What Was Missing" as her default appearance.
Bio[]
The vampire noble scans the outside world from her lofty castle perch, a new battlefield reflected in her gleaming eyes.
Special Powers[]
- Demonic Abilities: From her demonic father, Marceline inherited the power to absorb people's souls and minor control over fire as shown in "Evicted!"'s first look at the Fire Kingdom and her use on candles. It was also implied by her Farmworld counterpart that her half-demon nature extended her natural lifespan, as Farmworld Marceline was able to survive for at least 1000 years, albeit old and withered.
- Vampiric Powers: After absorbing the essence of several powerful vampires, Marceline gained several supernatural powers. From The Fool she gained the power to fly; from The Empress the ability to turn invisible; from The Hierophant she gained the power to shape-shift (e.g. taking the form of a bat, a wolf, a reptilian creature, a large tentacled monster and she can even copy the form of other creatures if she has time to study them); and from The Moon, the ability to rapidly heal.
- Immortality: Marceline is immortal, youthful, and unaging as a vampire and as long as she's not contacted by any form of typical weakness that can kill vampires, she could live both forever and eternity.
- Fire Manipulation: She lit up all the candles in Finn and Jake's house with a wave of her fingers.
- Telekinesis: She can move things using her mind. She probably obtained this power from Vampire King, but this hasn't been confirmed.
- Necromancy: Marceline can raise the undead to serve her.
- Energy Manipulation: She can fire red energy beams from her arms that are able to restrain people.
- As a result of absorbing the Vampire King's dark cloud half, she can now communicate with a miniature mental projection of him. During the turmoil of the Gum War, Marceline was able to releases the vampiric essence she absorbed from the Vampire King, transforming into a similar black, cloud-like form. In this state she was powerful enough to defeat one of the creatures created by GOLB.
- Ambidexterity: According to Ward, she is ambidextrous, which explains her ability to play bass with both hands.
- Marceline is a very talented musician and songwriter, and is proficient at singing and playing her basses.
- The Nightosphere Amulet: When worn the wearer gains the ability to shoot green lasers which either vaporize or transform whatever they hit. They can also create or transform into a large cloud of blood mist.
- Color Absorption: Marceline is capable of consuming the color red from an object she bites, while the object itself remains physically unharmed.
Passive Skill[]
Medallion of Brogends (Passive): Marceline pulls out one of her medallions, engulfing her in an aura along with a flaming crown and flaming horns. She gains one of the following traits based on a button input:
- Broom's Rosary: A patchy, red aura forms around Marceline, giving her armor until the buff ends. Sustaining too much damage ends the buff early.
- Agrippa's Charm: A flaming aura engulfs Marceline, increasing all damage dealt, with the exception of her Hyper Combos. The effect lasts about as long as Whittier's Amulet.
- Whittier's Amulet: A red aura forms around Marceline, reducing all damage taken. This buff lasts the longest.
- Mohlomi's Bell: A heavenly aura shines off Marceline's shoulders, giving her the ability to resurrect when defeated, restoring some health. The amount of health returned is based on how much Super Meter she has when defeated. However, Marceline may only resurrect when on her second bar of health. This effect lasts the shortest out of all her buffs.
Hyper Combos[]
- Bloody Mess: Marceline lifts the opponent's own blood in the air through their mouth and eyes and creates six swords of it. The swords pierce the enemy's chest, shoulders, heart and eye socket. Marceline then laughs and presses the stake in the victim's eye socket, causing the impaled eyeball to pop out through the head.
- Heart Condition: Marceline launches tendrils of blood at the opponent's heart, and starts to rapidly pump blood through them. The blood rushing to the opponent's heart builds, and the heart eventually explodes, creating a surge of blood and gore that bursts through the victim's chest.
- Final Resting Place: Marceline pulls out one of her medallions and punches a hole in the ground with her fist, creating a portal to the Nightosphere, then lunges onto the player while the ground traps their feet, tackling them into the hole. She punches them several times while falling into the Nightosphere. The player lands and is attacked by demons while Marceline does an overhead smash with her axe before bringing her and the player back to the battlefield.

John's Codec Conversation[]
- Tommy Pickles: Mr. Wick, I see you're fighting Marceline.
- John Wick: Yeah, I guess. Doesn't feel right fighting someone in a dress, though...
- Tommy Pickles: Don't underestimate her just because she's a woman. Marceline's attacks are backed by powerful magic. Her hand-to-hand combat may look weak, but her magic-and her axe-makes it cut to the bone.
- John Wick: So this rose has thorns... Interesting...
- Tommy Pickles: ...This is no time for pickup lines, Mr. Wick.
- John Wick: Don't worry. I know from experience that it's the quiet ones you have to watch out for.
